My name is Toshia Jordan and I am married to Jamie. I am the mother of two children, Langston and Olivia. I am a native of Taylorsville, North Carolina; I received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Exercise and Sport Science and Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, May 2000. I received a Master of Science Degree in Health Promotion from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, May 2003.
In my professional career, I am a wellness educator and have a passion for helping others live healthier lives, especially as it relates to biblical truth. Early on I developed a program entitled L.E.A.P. (Lifestyle Enhancement in the African American Women Population), which was a healthy lifestyles program for African American Women that received recognition in the Professional Journal Health Education and Behavior and at a Society of Public Health Education Midyear Scientific Conference. My professional record of accomplishment includes training, program development and implementation of health promotion projects with a special interest in faith-based organizations. I worked with the Center for Health and Healing (an affiliate of the General Baptist State Convention of NC) as a Project Manager for a youth tobacco prevention project. I worked with GBSC churches across the state implementing the Youth Photovoice Project as well as promoting Tobacco Free Church Ground policies. I developed and presented a number of presentations on wellness for children and adults.
Later I founded Seeds That Last to develop resources that promote biblical truth in children and women, especially mothers. Seeds That Last was birthed during the years that I was a stay-at-home mother and out of a desire to sow biblical truth into my children. I have written four unpublished children’s books and I am working on a testimonial autobiography. In addition, I enjoy volunteering. I have been a Children’s Church Teacher for six years and I was a PTA Chair of a Silver Graphics Fundraiser for four years and a Girl Scout Daisy Co-leader for two years.
Most recently I worked at Lifeway Christian bookstore and have become familiar with the niche market and have a knowledge of the products. My customer service skills and passion for people and the products proves to be a beneficial mix for success in my current God-given endeavor, an Independent Christian Bookstore.
